Easy Cream of Tomato Basil Soup

Some of my favorite recipes are the simplest ones, and this Cream of Tomato Basil Soup is a perfect example.

Working in a restaurant kitchen has taught me that delicious food doesn’t always require complicated ingredients or hours of preparation. Sometimes, a few simple ingredients and the right cooking method are all you need.

I created this recipe using whole peeled tomatoes, plenty of fresh garlic, chopped basil, chicken base, and heavy cream. Everything comes together in one pot, and after a quick blend, you have a rich, smooth, creamy tomato basil soup full of flavor.

What I love most about this recipe is how easy it is to prepare, even in a busy kitchen. It’s comforting, flavorful, and perfect for lunch or dinner.

Welcome to my kitchen, and Sahtain!

Notes

Chef’s Tips
Garlic: I use 1 cup of small, peeled garlic cloves. Cooking them with the tomatoes softens their sharp flavor.
Fresh basil: Fresh basil gives this soup its wonderful aroma and flavor.
Consistency: If the soup is too thick, add a little water or broth until you reach your preferred consistency.
Seasoning: Taste before adding salt, as chicken base already contains salt.
Storage: Refrigerate in an airtight container for up to 3–4 days. Reheat gently, stirring occasionally.
Estimated Yield: 8 bowls (16 fl oz each), approximately 1 gallon.
